Youthful Canine Powder

Youthful Canine Powder

As dogs age, their internal organs can use a little extra support. This blend of herbs is designed for middle-aged to senior canines who want to keep their liver, heart, and digestive tract functioning optimally as long as possible. I add it to my dog food blend, Wave-o’s Dog Food, starting when my dogs are around mid-life. The herbs are tonic, but since it’s wise to give the body a break from burdock every now and then, I will often skip it for one month of the year, usually July or August.

Ingredients

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Glass quart jar with lid or similar non-reactive, sealable container
  • Label and pen

Procedure

  1. Measure all the ingredients into the mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients well.
  3. Pour the mixture into the quart jar.
  4. Seal and label the jar.

Storage and Use

Store Youthful Canine Powder in a cool, dark place, such as a pantry.

You can add this powder directly to your friend’s daily meal. If you make raw dog food, like the Wave-o’s Dog Food recipe, or cooked dog food, you can add it to your ingredient list. If you feed your friend dried dog food, you can try sprinkling this powder on the food or you can wet it enough to get it to stick to your friend’s kibble so he or she will eat it.

Use as much Youthful Canine Powder as makes sense for your dog. A good starting place is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day for every 25 pounds of dog weight. So, if your dog weighs 50 pounds, add 1-2 teaspoons to his or her diet daily.
