Backyard Medicine By Julie Bruton-Seal And Matthew Seal

Best audience for Backyard Medicine: Beginning to experienced Herbalists

Candace said: Backyard Medicine was originally published in the U. K. under the title Hedgerow Medicine in 2008. It’s not surprising that most of them grow in my backyard here in the Pacific Northwestern United States. Amidst many plants whom I hadn’t thought to use as food or medicine, I found a lot of my favorites in Backyard Medicine‘s herbal. I loved that Bruton-Seal51Zg5ZZhZTL._SS110_ and Seal got away from just the standard herbal preparations to include recipes and how-tos for some of those we here in the U.S. often gloss over, such as electuaries and flower essences. That doesn’t mean they didn’t cover the usuals, such as tinctures, glycerites, and teas, it was just nice to see a wider set of ideas for including each plant into daily life. Backyard Medicine gives history, thumbnail descriptions, and ideas for using each plant, plus the pictures are clear and helpful. I love the variety and depth of information in this herbal. Overall, it consider it to be a real find amidst the plethora of herbals on the market today.

The Bottom Line: We give Backyard Medicine by Julie Bruton-Seal and Matthew Seal the thumbs up.
