Lobelia Inflata

Lobelia inflata, sometimes called Indian Tobacco, is one of the primary plants the Thomsonian Herbalists of the lat 19th and early 20th century used in many of their formulas. Lobelia helps open the body’s systems and can help move and direct the herbs in the formula to activate the body’s natural healing powers. It is strongly diffusive and antispasmodic with an affinity for the lungs. Lobelia is used by modern herbalists to help ease complaints like:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis and Pnemonia
  • Restricted breathing, especially due to inflammation
