This is my favorite basic herbal tea mix. I use it on its own and as the base for more complex teas. In the cup, this tea mix produces an infusion that’s slightly grassy in flavor and scent with a golden yellow color. It’s an extremely healthful blend that can be used as the base for recipes designed for relaxation, recovery from illness and stress, and general support.
- 1 cup dried Nettle leaf
- 1 cup dried Oat tops
- 1 cup dried Oat straw
- 1 cup dried Borage leaf
- 1 mixing bowl
- 1 spoon
- a sealable container large enough to hold four dried cups of herbs
- a label
- Pour the herbs into the mixing bowl and gently stir them with a spoon. Try not to break up the plant parts since this will release the essential oils.
- Pour the mix into a resealable container.
- Label the container with the name of the mix, ingredients and date mixed.
Storage and Use
Store your Basic Herbal Tea Mix in a cool dark place. Infuse one tablespoon of tea mix into eight ounces of boiling water for ten minutes to make a cup of tea. To customize it, add your favorite dried fruits, nuts, or herbs. Some herbs that mix well with this tea include:
- Rose hips and petals
- Peppermint or Spearmint
